Investors have withdrawn a total of $151 million from U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds this week, according to data from SoSoValue. This marks a swing from the previous week’s $681 million net redemptions and follows a brief inflow of $176 million recorded the day before Wednesday’s outflow.
Bitcoin’s Price Pressure
The outflow coincided with Bitcoin slipping under the $82,000 threshold after the latest U.S. inflation figures were released. At the time of reporting, the cryptocurrency was trading around $80,741, down roughly 3.2% over the prior 24-hour period.
Performance of Other Crypto ETFs
Ether-linked ETFs also experienced net withdrawals, shedding about $130 million on Wednesday and bringing the week’s total outflows to $190 million. Over the past two weeks, Ether funds have lost $542 million and $138 million respectively.
Solana-focused ETFs extended their eight-day streak of redemptions, posting a $1.3 million outflow on Wednesday and a cumulative $3 million withdrawn for the week. Zcash ETFs saw a modest $3.7 million outflow on Wednesday and ended the week with $3.2 million net withdrawals.
In contrast, XRP-related ETFs bucked the broader trend, attracting roughly $740 000 on Wednesday and remaining the sole category among the five tracked to register positive net flows for the week.
Market Context and Investor Sentiment
The recent pullback in Bitcoin ETF inflows appears linked to the broader market reaction to macroeconomic data, particularly the inflation report that pressured Bitcoin’s price lower. The simultaneous outflows from Ether, Solana and Zcash ETFs suggest a wider risk-off sentiment among crypto-focused investors.
Why it matters
The shift from large inflows to net outflows in Bitcoin ETFs highlights how quickly investor capital can move in response to price volatility and macro events. Continued withdrawals could affect the liquidity and pricing dynamics of the underlying spot Bitcoin market, while the divergent performance of XRP ETFs may indicate sector-specific interest or regulatory developments influencing investor behavior.
