OKX announced another injection of capital that keeps its valuation steady at $25 billion, the same level set in a March financing. While the exact amount raised has not been disclosed, the round added new participants to the exchange’s investor roster.
Strategic partners and valuation
The latest backers comprise Circle Internet Group, Ripple, Standard Chartered’s venture arm SC Ventures and the quantitative hedge fund Qube Research & Technologies. Qube, a spin-out from Credit Suisse, already manages a crypto-focused fund of roughly $1 billion, underscoring its confidence in the long-term growth of digital assets and around-the-clock markets.
The unchanged valuation follows an earlier investment by Intercontinental Exchange, the parent of the New York Stock Exchange, which contributed about $200 million in March. Both injections were framed around the development of tokenized securities and broader market infrastructure.
Tokenized stock ambitions
OKX is working with Intercontinental Exchange through a joint venture, OKXICE LLC, to obtain permission to offer tokenized equities of 63 U.S. public companies, including high-profile names such as Nvidia, Apple and Coca-Cola. The plan relies on an SEC innovation exemption that permits venues to trade blockchain-based tokens representing actual shares—complete with voting rights and dividends—for up to five years without registering as a national securities exchange. The exemption restricts the number of securities each venue can list and gives issuers a 30-day window to object, meaning each company can veto its inclusion.
Beyond the tokenized equity effort, OKX has already introduced perpetual futures tied to the “Magnificent Seven” stocks and the broader S&P 500, further expanding its suite of equity-linked products.
Why it matters
The fresh capital reinforces OKX’s strategy to deepen its market infrastructure and broaden the range of tradable digital assets. By securing the support of a stablecoin issuer, a cross-border payments network, a major banking institution and a quantitative hedge fund, the exchange signals confidence from diverse corners of the financial ecosystem. Successful approval of the tokenized stock offering would position OKX as a key bridge between traditional equities and blockchain-based trading, potentially reshaping how investors access U.S. securities on a 24/7 basis.
